POSITION TITLE: Bistro Server

Primary Tasks:
• Greets guests and presents them with the menus
• Informs guests of any food or drink specials available for the day and any menu changes
• Take food and beverage orders, and make recommendations as needed
• Coordinate with the kitchen in case of any special dietary needs
• Deliver food in a prompt and efficient manner
• Ensure guest satisfaction with food and beverage orders
• Process guest payments
• Keeps dining area clean, making sure tables are reset after each guest has left
• Maintain appropriate stock levels
• Tally receipts and payments at the end of the day making sure that all is correct and accounted for
• Complies with schedule as established by Food Service Manager.
• Promotes good communication and effective working relationships adhering to the workplace Code of Conduct and Respect in the Workplace policies.
• Attendance patterns reflects commitment to resident and departmental goals.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Walks and stands during entire shift.
• Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
• Remain stationary for long periods of time.
• Frequent washing of hands.
• Be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping and tripping.

Knowledge, Skills & Certifications:

• 2+ years’ restaurant serving experience.
• Valid Smart Choices for Responsible Service certification.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages are an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to use a point of sale (POS) system to place food and beverage orders and process payments.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent customer service skills, including interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience.
• Must be able to work individually and as part of a team.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must be of legal age to serve liquor.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The team member may be expected to perform other duties as assigned. Such duties will be within the scope of the employee’s training and ability. Employee must wear a hair net or other equally protective garment when working in food preparation areas.
