We are looking for an optimistic and energetic estimator/ project coordinator for civil construction to join our growing dynamic team. This position will support our Lead Estimator/ Project manager in preparing estimates and managing various types of civil construction sites.
As the successful candidate, you will be a highly motivated individual who thrives in a team environment, loves technology, and takes pride in his/her meticulous calculations and record keeping.
The scope of your responsibilities:
• You will assist and coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual or general tenders for a variety of heavy construction projects.
• You will review & analyze bid packages from subcontractors.
• You will communicate with consultants, clients, venders, and subcontractors to clarify contract details and coordinate schedules.
• You will communicate with site supervisors and operators to clarify project requirements and details.
• You will calculate equipment and labor rates for projects.
• You will create and maintain material lists and order material from suppliers.
• You will assist in preparing monthly progress claims.
• You will assist the senior estimator and project manager with various tasks and responsibilities.
Characteristics of our ideal candidate:
• You hold yourself to a high level of accountability and will challenge the status quo.
• You have demonstrated experience or an aptitude for learning civil construction.
• You have good verbal and written communication skills.
• You will be relational with the proven ability to build and maintain relationships with site crews, suppliers and subcontractors.
• You have excellent computer skills including MS Office and Excel; as well as some experience with drafting programs.
• You are able to read site plans.
• You hold a valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Prior experience with GPS technology in civil construction will be considered a definite asset.
