Welder/Shop Laborer

Welder/Shop Laborer – Full Time Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (37.5 hrs/wk)
Prairie Pole Inc. is a local manufacturing shop that produces light standards and custom manufacturing. We are looking for a motivated individual to fill the role of welder/shop laborer. The full-time job opportunity will be at our location in Steinbach.

Primary Duties:
- Fabricate and weld light standards, helical piles and custom manufacturing
- Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
- Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
- Load steel piles onto customer vehicles with forklift
- Maintain an inventory of materials used for fabrication
- General cleaning and maintenance of shop
- Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:
- Experience setting up and using different types of welders
- Skilled in use of various hand and power tools including drills, drill press, mechanical shear, press brake, etc.
- Experience working with micrometers and calipers
- Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
- Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision
- Capable of learning through on the job training
- Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions

Requirements/Qualifications:
- 2+ years welding experience
- 2+ years working in a manufacturing environment working with steel and aluminum
- Highly organized
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective multi-tasker, self-motivated, and detail oriented
- Effective problem solving skills
- Ability to life 50+ pounds
- Ability to drive forklift
This position is an hourly full-time permanent position. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm with occasional overtime during peak seasons. Wage is dependent on experience but in the range of $15.00 - $22.00 per hour.
