Manager of Events

Job Overview:
The Provincial Manager of Events is responsible for overseeing and implementing events for the integrated network of five construction associations in Saskatchewan, including the Saskatchewan Construction Association (SKCA), Saskatoon Construction Association (SCA), Regina Construction Association (RCA), Prince Albert Construction Association (PACA), and Moose Jaw Association (MJCA). This role collaborates closely with the Engagement team to execute strategic priorities related to planned networking events, ensuring successful engagement and collaboration within the construction industry.

Job Duties & Key Responsibilities

Event Planning

· Lead, manage, and oversee events for all five provincial associations, including:

o Annual networking & themed events

o Golf tournaments & Curling bonspiels.

o Conferences & Tradeshow

o Other membership networking events

· Prepare accurate budgets for each event and collaborate with the Director of Operations and Bookkeeper on financial details.

· Travel within the province to facilitate in-person attendance for events whenever necessary.

· Coordinate with local Association staff and volunteer committees to plan and execute local events.

· Develop content for marketing communications related to upcoming events.

Collaborative Work

· Work closely with the Engagement team to develop provincial events with increased sponsorship opportunities.

· Collaborate with the engagement team on smaller scale programming and events, such as conferences and educational events.

· Assist the engagement team in developing effective communication strategies.

· Provide oversight and support to operations staff working on common goals.

· Assist with other duties, projects, and offer backup support to team members as needed.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business, marketing, or tourism, or equivalent experience.

· Formal Event Management certification is desirable.

· 3-5 years of experience in developing, planning, and executing strategic events for a business or organization preferred.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, major social media platforms, and maintaining website content and/or databases.

· Experience with promotional software considered an asset (I.e. Constant Contact, Eventbrite).

· Graphic design experience considered an asset (I.e. Adobe Illustrator, Canva).

· Leadership skills that motivate and empower staff and foster growth.

· Strong understanding of Saskatchewan’s construction industry issues and priorities is an asset.

· Knowledge of working in a member-driven association and ability to respond to member needs with diplomacy is an asset.

Working Conditions

· This position works five days per week but will require some evenings and weekends to accommodate event schedules.

· Sitting for long periods of time and long hours at a computer are typical for this role.

This position is expected to travel to work at local offices and to support local association work on a regular basis as necessary, including overnight stays as required.
