Woodshop (Pallet and Crate)

Gateway Resources is hiring a full-time worker for their WOODROOM as part of our operations department.  The Woodroom Direct Support Professional (DSP) will provide support to adults living with an intellectual disability.  You will work alongside of these individuals to build custom crates and pallets for local businesses.  Our DSP's work at promoting independence and modeling good work ethics to our participants.

The position involves the following job duties (this is a summary, not a comprehensive list):

Walking/standing for extended periods of time (up to 2.5 hours at at time)
Assembling crate parts, crates, and pallets to order specifications
Using tools such as an air nailer, stapler, strapping tools and a variety of mechanical saws
Assist with month end inventory as needed
Load or unload trucks
May be trained to operate a forklift. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Have a genuine interest in supporting people with intellectual disabilities
Minimum grade 10 education
Be 18 years of age or older
Physical aspects of the job include lifting up to 30-50 pounds at a time, walking/standing, bending, twisting and kneeling.
Have a valid Class 5 (minimum) MB Driver’s License
Emergency First Aid/CPR or be willing to take the training.
Provide a clear Criminal record check
Provide a clear Adult Abuse Registry Check
Be motivated and willing to work as a team and able to work independently in a fast paced environment.  
Have strong English verbal and written communication skills.
