The Pembina Valley Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter in Morden, Manitoba, and serves 40 communities in the Pembina Valley. For over 20 years, the PVHS has been rescuing stray and unwanted animals, providing education on the humane treatment of companion animals, and providing valuable programs and services in the area.
We are looking for dedicated, hard-working, and passionate individuals to join our fun-loving fundraising committee. This committee develops and implements the Pembina Valley Humane Society’s fundraising plan. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in non-profit work and to help propel the PVHS towards their goals of community and animal welfare.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and management of fundraising events
Assist in identifying strategies to encourage new or increased contributions
Contribute to decision making in all areas of committee activities
Take on and fulfill tasks related to event goals (Ex. Soliciting prize donors, securing donations,collecting donations for raffles, communicating with hosts, vendors etc.)
Attend Monthly Fundraising Committee Meetings (approx. 2 hours, one evening per month)
Report to committee on assigned tasks in a timely manner
Maintain and update shared fundraising applications as applicable (ex. Shared drive, mastersheet, fundraising app).
Attend and assist with a minimum of 2 major events per year
Attend and assist with a minimum of one community events per year
Willingness to lead or co-lead an annual event after 6 months on-committee
Serve on sub-committees for specific projects and events (if applicable)
Communicate with committee members, board members, and staff when relevant
Commitment to reading fundraising educational material as assigned (approx. one hour per month)
Ensure appropriate post-event measures are taken by ensuring supplies are returned and stored appropriately and raffle report information submitted to chairs
Review and become familiar with the Respectful Workplace Policy of the PVHS
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong verbal, communication, and organizational skills
Creative, detail oriented mindset
Ability to delegate tasks as appropriate
Ability to use technology (we will train on specific applications used)
Passion for animals and non-profits
Class 5 license
Polite and professional manner
Community connections are an asset
Ability to lift 30-50 lbs
The time commitment for this role is approximately 1-4 hours/weekly, with a significant increase (approximately 10 plus hours weekly) before and after events on a 2-year term, which is renewable.
