Female Youth Program Facilitator

 The successful candidate would be contracted to run the Go Girls Program in Winkler, Morden and potentially Altona.

  The Go Girls! Program consists of 7-8 sessions, held over a 7-8 week period, after school within school facilities.  Each session is loosely structured around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem and communication skills.

The program strives to do the following:
• Create appreciation for the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle.
• Build understanding of what constitutes healthy eating habits and the risks associated with eating disorders.
• Promote the importance of positive mental activity and regular physical exercise.
• Encourage awareness of core values, personal interests, strengths and attributes.
• Support the development of leadership and life skills.
• Offer guidance in establishing and maintaining friendships.
• And above all, make a difference.

 The successful candidate would prepare for and deliver this program according to the Big Brothers Big Sisters National Standards.  She would need to be able to relate to students 12-14 years of age and be able to give leadership to a group.  She will need to attend a local training session and keep in communication with the School and the Big Brothers Big Sisters caseworker & Executive Director.  

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry checks, along with all other screening checks included in our volunteer process.

This is considered a volunteer position, however it does include a payment in the form of an honorarium to the successful candidate. Sessions for this program run approximately from 3:30-5:30 once a week for the 7-8 week period, along with prep time for the sessions, as well as meetings with the caseworker/Executive Director as needed. There will be breaks between sessions.
