Alarm Technician

This position is responsible for the installation, service and maintenance of security alarm systems. The Alarm Systems Technician works closely with our Project Managers and valued clients in order to provide a well-coordinated, efficient and highly responsive installation and service effort. Many of our system applications are highly technical and require creative solutions; therefore, technical expertise will be an important component of our successful system design, planning and implementation.

- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the clients
- Prepare for installations by reviewing installation orders; gathering equipment, supplies, and tools; coordinating schedules with customers
- Plan installations by surveying and evaluating location, identifying installation requirements, laying-out equipment and wiring plan
- Install equipment; runs wiring; programs and calibrates equipment
- Verify the system functions properly by testing equipment, connections, and signals; identify and correct problems
- Maintain records by documenting installation
- Train end users on system functionality
- Troubleshoot systems and resolve issues for end users
- Stay current on new technology
- Maintain a secure work environment by following safe practices
- Keep security information confidential
- Meet and exceed organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Support sales with system design and site surveys
- Work on a rotating on-call schedule with other technicians
- Perform other tasks as required


- TQ Certified with Security Alarm Installer License
- Must be bondable and undergo a basic security clearance
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with installation, service and troubleshooting of home/business intrusion alarm systems and knowledge of network video and Access
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Valid BC Driver's License and clean abstract
- Basic security systems hand tools
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally
