Community Mental Health Worker (AH-17-001)

The Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health worker position provides mental health services to clients who are school age to 18 years old through the provision of direct clinical services, consultation and professional and public education. This position provides a welcoming point of contact for clients and referral sources seeking Child and Adolescent Mental Health services in the Southern Health-Santé Sud region. The role includes developing effective alliances with clients and families in the process of clinical assessment and evidence informed therapeutic interventions.

The incumbent will exercise a high level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited post-secondary education in Health Related Social Sciences, i.e. BSW, BScMH, BScPN, BN, RPN with a minimum of two (2) years supervised counseling experience.
• Active license and registration to practice as required by professional association and Provincial legislation.
• Certificate in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or (prepared to acquire).
• Has achieved, or willing to attain, completion of Child and Adolescent competency training program.
• Advanced knowledge of child development and human developmental theory.
• Experience providing Psychosocial Assessment, mental status exams and evidence-informed counselling interventions.
• Counseling experience with children and adolescents.
• Knowledge and understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
• Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
• Good work and attendance record.
• Proficiency of both official languages is essential (English/French)

Le travailleur ou la travailleuse – Services communautaires de santé mentale assure la prestation de services à une population cible qui connaît des difficultés et des cas pour des besoins plus aigus en santé mentale.

Qualités requises :
• Baccalauréat en service social, baccalauréat en sciences avec spécialisation en santé mentale, baccalauréat en sciences infirmières psychiatriques, baccalauréat en sciences infirmières, baccalauréat en réadaptation médicale, avec deux ans d’expérience ou de formation connexe en services sociaux
• Preuve d’appartenance à un organisme de réglementation professionnelle applicable
• Connaissance et compréhension de la réadaptation psychosociale, du rétablissement et de l’autonomisation
• Compétences poussées en évaluation et en intervention dans le domaine de la santé mentale
• Capacité de respecter la confidentialité, y compris en ce qui concerne les documents sur papier, les formats électroniques et les autres médias
• Capacité manifeste de répondre aux exigences physiques et mentales du poste
• Bon rendement de travail qui consiste à l’assiduité
• Compétence dans les deux langues officielles est essentielle (français et anglais)

• Complète et maintien une vérification de casier judiciaire, vérification des antécédents - personnes vulnérables (VAPV), registre des mauvais traitements infligés aux adultes et registre de l’enfance maltraitée satisfaisants.
