Manitoba Youth Job Centre

Description:

The Altona and area Manitoba Youth Job Centre (MYJC) has opened its doors for the summer of 2017! We are celebrating our 42nd successful year of supporting youth employment in our community. The MYJC is sponsored by the Manitoba Education and Training in partnership with the Altona & District Chamber of Commerce, is designed to assist employers, students, and youth with their employment needs. The Altona MYJC is responsible for the communities of Altona, Emerson, Dominion City, Gretna, and surrounding areas.
My name is Darcy Friesen and I am the Altona and area MYJC Youth Engagement Leader for the summer of 2017. I have just completed my Bachelor of Arts (Adv.) at Providence University College and am extremely excited to be serving youth and employers in our communities this summer.
The Centre offers a FREE referral service to employers who wish to hire a local student or youth. Only the most qualified candidates are referred, and the employer always makes the final hiring decision. There are students and youth registered with the Centre who are available for both full-time and part-time work, as well as some who are willing to work on a causal basis, doing those tasks that require only a few hours or a few days of labour. These students and youth are available for employment in both business and household settings.
By hiring a student or youth, you are giving them a unique experience that not only provides them with a wage, but also builds numerous skills that they will find useful in the future. Your support has long-lasting effects in our community, and it shows your confidence in our young people!
I am looking forward to a great summer in our communities! If you are interested in using our services or have any questions throughout the summer, please feel free to call the Job Centre at 204-304-0930, or drop by our office at Suite 119 in the Golden West Building. Usual office hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday to Friday. I hope to hear from you soon!
