By repurposing a facility abandoned during the 2008 financial collapse, we are building back into the community. Buffalo Creek Mills is a growing oat processing facility looking to expand our team. Buffalo Creek Mills is expanding, which means new employment opportunities are available. We are currently accepting applications for a Production Manager. This is a leadership position that is part of a team that will actively build and guide the company into the future.

Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for the efficient operation of all production activities. This includes receiving raw grain, milling, packaging, warehousing, shipping final product, and maintenance. The Production Manager will provide leadership for the effective operations of the plant, by ensuring the development and implementation of best-in-class manufacturing processes, efficient maintenance of plant equipment, and adherence to good manufacturing practices. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient production of quality product in an environment that meets our commitments to our human resources, health & safety, and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
o Responsible to provide leadership for the overall efficient operation of all production activities
o Responsible to produce quality oat products that meet customer and Buffalo Creek Mills food safety requirement
o Responsible to develop a healthy team environment through thoughtful supervision of production personnel
o Responsible to determine and maintain the necessary resources, including personnel, materials, and tools
o Responsible to ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between all production staff
o Responsible to develop appropriate training programs for continual skills improvement of production staff
o Responsible for the development, implementation, and control of the overall production schedule
o Responsible for the implementation of company policies. Including health and safety, and food safety policies.
o Responsible for oversight of shipping and receiving, milling, maintenance, and packaging supervisors.
o Responsible for performance management of production staff with the support of Human Resources
o Responsible for the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for production operations
o Assist and guide the maintenance supervisor with decisions about maintenance work, purchasing of equipment, modifications, and procurement
o Assist and guide the milling supervisor to ensure efficient 24-7 production of quality oat product
o Assist and guide shipping and receiving supervisor to ensure efficient inventory management
o Assist and guide packaging and warehouse supervisor to ensure efficient packaging and warehouse activities.
o Assist in the continual development of corporate ERP system and ensure the tracking of accurate production information
o Assist Human Resources with recruitment and training of new employees
o Assist the CEO in the development of production targets, production budgets, capital improvements and implementation of cost control programs
o Responsible to provide monthly reports to CEO and shareholders describing production quantity, runtime, efficiency, and other key performance indicators as needed
o Collaborate with CEO in the development of 5-year business goals
o Collaborate with research and development initiatives of new products

Preferred Characteristics:
o Experience in an oat processing industry
o Post-secondary education in food science, business, engineering, or operations management
o Formal training in management techniques
o Demonstrated track record of decision making and direction setting using various analytical tools
o Training in LEAN manufacturing concepts

Minimum Qualifications:
o 10 years of production experience in a food processing
o Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a management role
o Strong organizational and communication skills
o Ability to operate and maintain mechanical systems
o Positive attitude and team player
o A proven record of delivering positive bottom-line results
o Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders
o GFSI food safety related experience and training
o Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
o Strong problem-solving skills

Employment:
o Full time, Monday through Friday
o Overtime as required
