Position Summary

The purpose of the Behavioral Support Program Lead intern is to assist Ksalsuti Wellness Resources with the development and implementation of behavioral, autism and mental wellness programs and projects in First Nation communities an
Overall Role:
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager and Mental Wellness Consultant, Behavioral Support Program Lead Intern is to assist Ksalsuti Wellness Resources with the development and implementation of behavioral and autism support programs and projects in First Nation communities for youth and their families. The Behavioral Support Program Lead Intern will be trained in autism programs like ABA therapy and the Miller Method.

Required Skills & Qualifications

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:

1) The Behavioral Support Program Lead Intern should be a graduate of post-secondary university or college with a degree in education, counselling, or social work. Graduates with other training will also be considered
2) Strong communication, English, and mathematical skills are required
3) Strong planning skills are required
4) Knowledge of Anishinaabe language, culture, and traditions.
5) Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check is required.
6) Possess the ability to manage a reasonable workload; effective priority-setting and follow-up.
7) Possess the ability to establish and maintain appropriate working rapport with others.
8) Have a valid driver’s license, access to an insured vehicle, and willingness to travel.
9) University and college graduates who have graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. Candidates must be graduates of post-secondary degree or diploma programs.
10) The position must provide the intern with first time employment in their field of study.
11) Candidates are only eligible to participate in the internship program one time.

12) Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

GENERAL DUTIES
1. Implement and coordinate all aspects of behavioral, autism and mental wellness programming in communities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Assist with the development of behavioral support programs and projects by:

1) Helping with individual and family planning sessions

2) Working with community-based planning teams

3) Complete required program support work-plans

4) Assist with the completion of support applications to Jordan's Principle and other programs

5) Completing research on best-practices in autism and ADHD

6) Support the sharing of wellness supports and materials with individuals and communities in the region

Assist with the implementation of behavioral support programs and projects by:

1) Ordering materials and supplies

2) Deliver therapy programs and supports to individual youth/students

3) Assist with the completion of individual and group progress reports

4) Attend month Wrap-Around meetings.

Compensation
To commensurate with education and experience
