Description
The Occupational Therapist will provide patient care through the assessment and treatment of inpatients with physical and cognitive impairments, utilizing a variety of skills and resources; including but not limited to mental health and addictions treatment modalities including but not limited to Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP)and Psycho-social rehabilitation. Splinting, wheelchair assessment and prescription, relevant outcome measures and tests plus self-care activities, are required skills, to increase patient functional capacity and independence.
The Occupational Therapist may also assess and treat LWDH Staff with cognitive, mental health, or physical concerns in the return-to-work program administrated by Occupational Health and Safety. The OT may be involved with tasks related to the Occupational Health and Safety program as required which includes but is not limited to: ergonomic evaluations, physical demands analyses, staff education, return to work counselling and support to staff wellness and JOHSC initiatives.
