Accountant

Siever, Fonstad and Erdman is looking for one full-time accountant. The successful candidate will prepare compilation engagement financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns as well as bookkeeping and GST/PST returns as needed.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Commerce with Accounting or relevant post-secondary education with extensive work experience
• CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation
• Experience in a public accounting role is considered an asset
• Experience with farm accounting and tax knowledge is desired
• Experience with payroll preparation is considered an asset
• Proficient with various accounting software such as Caseware, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting and advanced knowledge using MS Word and Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Ability to develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships with clients and co-workers

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for month end, journal entries, reconciliations and financial statement preparation for compilation engagements
• Prepare personal tax returns for individuals, sole proprietors and farms
• Prepare corporate tax returns for various organizations
• Oversee of monthly bookkeeping for various clients as well as file GST/PST returns
• Corresponding with Canada Revenue Agency regarding Personal and Corporate tax
• Communicating with various clients

• Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the manager
