Cloverbelt Local Food Co-op (CLFC) is hiring a Community Coordinator in Kenora to perform a variety of duties which serve to promote local food in their community and surrounding areas. This one year project aims to increase market access to consumers, restaurants and institutions for Northwestern Ontario farmers. Three coordinators have already been hired in Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay and Rainy River. Coordinators will also assist a Lakehead University team to engage their area communities, and gather useful data for the purposes of a Food Charter development for the Kenora & Rainy River Districts. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Organizing community events;
Marketing and outreach, including developing newsletter content, speaking at workplaces and community events, acting as media liaison, leveraging social media outlets, and developing print materials;
Networking and partnership building with area organizations, institutions & restaurants;
Collecting and compiling data, including survey distribution;
Developing local strategies to attract additional consumers, overseeing encompassed existing distribution hubs, developing new distribution hubs;
Conveying relevant information to partners and the Cloverbelt Local Food Co-op staff and directors where appropriate;
Monthly & quarterly reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience with partnership development, independent work, and meeting facilitation would be strong assets. Must have some daytime availability.
This contract position will end on March 31st, 2018 and is funded by Greenbelt. Successful candidates will be expected to work an average of 15 hours per week. A travel and meeting budget will be provided. There is a high probability of continuation past the project period provided that all project goals and deliverables are met (available upon request). Travel within Northwestern Ontario should be expected. A valid G class driver’s license and own vehicle will be required.

Marketing & public speaking experience would be a strong asset. A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team would be strong asset. Must have some availability during business hours.
