Golden West Radio is seeking applications from broadcasters, who possess a solid and thorough understanding of newsworthiness.
We are looking for candidates that have a proven record of demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills with a real can-do attitude. Does the idea of working alongside a young, enthusiastic news team in Fort Saskatchewan’s ONLY radio station make you sit up and take notice? We will offer the opportunity to engage with our listeners through our website as well as on-air so you can implement your own vision in your own dynamic exciting way. If you love telling stories, using your creativity, can be flexible and are familiar with reporting on news and community events, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
• Be a part of the community, live, work, and play here
• Write news stories for broadcast
• Execute an excruciatingly local broadcast
• Are able to work independently as well as with a team
• Strong writing, reading, and photography skills
• Chase, develop, and package stories for air
• Attend press conferences and events as scheduled
• Source and write local and regional news stories through established contacts and all other available sources
• Monitor social media and emergency services feeds for potential news sources
• Localize regional, national and internationally trending stories for our listening audience
• Ability to communicate concisely and efficiently (verbally and written)
• Ability to conduct interviews in a professional and efficient manner
• Must be detail orientated and able to take direction
• The ability to work within a fast paced environment both individually and with a team
• Dedication towards ongoing self-improvement through self-evaluation, as well as regular air checks with the program director
• One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education (Broadcast Diploma or University Degree in a related discipline and experience)
• A valid class 5 driver’s license
• Other duties as assigned
