The Kenora Sexual Assault Centre is looking to fill the following full time permanent position:

Crisis Line Coordinator/Counsellor
 To offer support and counselling to victims who are survivors of rape, sexual assault, abuse and
incest, and to those affected by violence on a crisis intervention basis.
 To provide crisis and long-term counselling to survivors of sexual violence and their families.
 Develop, implement, and evaluate Crisis Line training program in consultation with Centre
 Ensure the crisis line provides 24 hour services and coordinate (as necessary) the scheduling,
switching phones, etc.
 Supervise crisis line volunteers by regular, documented one-on-one meetings/discussions, to
review counseling documentation with a goal of supporting and strengthening their work to
agency standards.
 Recruitment of volunteers, screening, training and support of crisis line workers.
 Participate in issue-related organizations, groups and/or represent the Centre on relevant
committees as deemed necessary.

 Degree or diploma in social work or health field with at least two years practice and/or three
years counselling with appropriate training.
 Strong understanding of the causes of violence against women from an integrated, feminist,
anti-racist/anti-oppression frame of work.
 Knowledge of issues of power and control and the dynamics of abuse.
 Knowledge of counselling principles in social work from a mainstream and Aboriginal-centered
 Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and provide peer supervision.
 Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
 Excellent organizational and time management skills.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Ability to speak Ojibway or Oji-Cree is a definite asset.

Salary: $38,500 to $40,000 depending on education and experience.
