The Manager of Human Resources is a key player in implementing human resource management (HRM) strategies, supporting growth in the local management team, overseeing the recruitment portfolio, analyzing and understanding the key drivers of turnover and implementing solutions, maintaining a positive employee relations environment, and enhancing the organizational culture. This new position is part of the Donald’s Fine Foods corporate HRM team and is based at the company’s Thunder Creek Pork plant in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Working with the site management team, this position will deliver HRM programs. They will also provide on-site advice to the management team and increase the strategic and tactical understanding of HRM. The Manager of Human Resources will support the development of a positive corporate culture and will strive to foster a workplace environment that is consistent with the values and mission of Donald’s Fine Foods. Thunder Creek Pork is a pork processing plant that is a part of the Donald’s Fine Foods group of companies. Thunder Creek Pork has approximately 250 unionized employees who are represented by RWDSU and 12 out-of-scope employees. The processing is a blend of mechanical and manual, with a focus on high quality products. Much of the final product is marketed internationally. A strong corporate mission and values is the framework for growth and development of the culture at Thunder Creek Pork.
The plant processes a high volume of pork daily. This position will be required to be in the plant frequently. The plant is open Monday to Friday with production starting work early morning and cleaning shifts starting mid-afternoon. The Manager of Human Resources would work normal office hours, with an expectation that they would be required to work outside those hours of a couple times a week. There may be occasional travel out of province to meet with corporate staff.
