The successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall management for projects as well as the duties and responsibilities listed in the job description. This is an unique role as it requires both on site construction experience/knowledge along with the management. The projects are small/mid size that will require a quick response to ensure a smooth flow of the projects. There could be multiple projects simultaneously. These projects will be located in Northern Ontario.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide overall hands-on management for projects
Maintain relationships and develop new relationships within the industry
Overall responsibilities would include but are not limited to profitability, safety, quality, scheduling, communications, duty assignment, project budgeting and cost management.
Engage in planning and executing the work, interpret specifications, and coordinate the various scopes and phases of the work to ensure it is completed safely, on-time and on budget.
Inspect the work in progress to ensure it is being completed safely and according to plans and specifications. Perform quality control checks on a regular basis.
Ensure work is installed following good building practices, is to industry standards and manufacturer's standards.
Coordinate with trades, suppliers and employees to ensure a proper plan of action is in place and proper tools, equipment and materials are on site in a timely manner to execute the work.
Provide technical advice on scope of work detailing and products on an as needed basis.
Work with other parties to resolve any conflicts or problems that may arise during the construction.
Understanding of Construction Management processes and procedures.
Manage tendering process, awarding of contracts/PO's
Understanding of and ability to follow through the permitting process.
Skills & Knowledge:
Computer literate with a strong working knowledge of MS Office package and MS Project.
Knowledge of estimating, quantity takeoffs and tendering.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to multitask, work independently, prioritize and understand the sense of urgency required to maintain even flow of construction.
Must have strong moral values and be trustworthy.
Qualifications:
5 years minimum experience as a Site Supervisor and/or Project Management.
Education as a Technologist or related construction management education field.
Relevant College diploma and /or apprenticeship in related trades or related work experience.
In-depth knowledge of and experience in construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
