This is a part time position - 20 hours weekly in the afternoon.
Successful candidates will work in the Steinbach and/or Grunthal area of Manitoba, details of the hours are the following:
Scheduled work shifts are Monday to Friday between the hours are anywhere between 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
20 hours weekly - 4 hours in the afternoon
Can be re-assigned to work in a St.Amant classroom or in the community
We are seeking fun, energetic, enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team in supporting children with ASD to fulfill their potential. As an Autism Tutor, you will be an integral part of a team, working one-on-one with children and families, teaching important skills in all life areas based on individualized goals. You will apply creativity to deliver programs in fun and interesting ways in a St.Amant classroom or in a community setting (e.g., child care centre, family home).
This position reports to the Family Information & Resource Manager, and works under the supervision of an Autism Consultant and Senior Tutor.
Minimum education of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to work within a team
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Previous experience working with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities or ASD
Post-secondary course work in behaviour modification/applied behaviour analysis (ABA)
Previous work experience in a supervised ABA program
Knowledge of philosophies and practices in education, care and support services for individuals with disabilities
Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as a collaborative team player in a team environment
Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to generate ideas to improve work procedures and contribute to an environment that fosters growth, development and innovation
Superb interpersonal ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with humility and self-awareness

Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivers early intensive behavioural intervention using ABA teaching strategies to assigned children under the direction of the Autism Consultant and Senior Tutor including learning activities in all life areas
Attends team meetings and workshops
Collects data and information regarding the child’s progress
Works closely with other team members to ensure coordination and integrity of services
Communicates with child’s family regarding the child’s progress, care, and well-being
Supports and assists child to participate in daily activities (e.g., group activities, outdoor play time), self-care and personal care when needed
Understands policies and procedures of the Autism Programs and those of the organization
Reports and documents high risk or potentially high risk situations according to St.Amant and Autism Programs policy
Carries out programming and teaching in areas/goals that have been identified and individualized for each child; works one-on-one with the child to develop their skills and independence
Willing and able to learn and maintain accurate data collection, summary and entry methods
Commits to complete all training required by the Autism Programs
Develops and/or constructs material for client use when required
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
Excellent ongoing training in teaching individuals with ASD
