Mashkiki Tetibis (Medicine Wheel) Project Case Manager
Term until August 31, 2024
20 hours per week position for Monday/Wednesday/Thursday evening shifts of 4.5 hours and Saturday 6.5 hours. Hourly rate of $23.50/hour.

PCRC is currently seeking candidates to fill the new role of the Medicine Wheel Case Manager. These positions are funded by the Government of Manitoba. The Mashkiki Tetibis (Medicine Wheel) Project will be utilizing the Medicine Wheel Model to provide a stronger Indigenous cultural presence an holistic approach for Urban Indigenous people that are involved in the justice system.

Utilizing the Medicine Wheel will provide a wrap around and holistic support tool, which will include Mental/Intellectual (training) , Physical (Housing Support) , Spiritual (cultural connection), and Emotional (counselling) components. Through service connection and additional supports, clients will be able to reduce barriers to achieving their goals. Individual case plans will be made based off of needs of program participants.

Conditions of Employment:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector check), Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check
• Valid Driver's license and the ability to travel within Portage la Prairie and surrounding areas

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in social sciences or human services desired
• Experience in case management in the social services field with an emphasis on case management which includes assessment, service planning, evaluation, follow up and review and closure
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and establish working relationships with individuals/families, and community organizations and agencies
• Excellent ability to manage conflict
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing workload demands and meet time sensitive deadlines
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
• Ability to work with a diverse population
• Excellent written communication skills, with experience writing clear, concise documents and reports for a variety of audiences
• Experience report writing and determining measurable outcomes
• Ability to work in a fast paced team environment

Duties:
The Community Resource Workers will establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals who are in need of advocates and service providers/agencies often under difficult circumstances. They will connect clients to appropriate services and help support them navigating barriers to employment after receiving referrals from relevant agencies.
