Position: Educational Assistant

Employment Status: Term (6.5 hours per day)

(Note: This position requires the successful applicant to have prior experience, knowledge and ability in the following areas:

• Working with at-risk students with behavioral and learning challenges
• Supporting the implementation of ABC plans to support students with Regulation needs
• Assisting students with tube feeding, lifting, toileting, and other aspects of daily living
• Supporting students who have diagnosis of Down Syndrome, Autism, Global Development Delays
• Supporting students with alternative communication devices and who have significant mobility issues. ________________________________________________________________________________

Positions may include working with students who require:

• Behavioural, emotional, social support for exceptional challenges
• Support for physical challenges
• Computer Assisted Learning
• Outdoor/Indoor Supervision
• Remedial Support
• English As an Additional Language

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12
• Experience and/or training in the advertised position
• Satisfactory Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry Check
• Ability to communicate in low German, considered an asset
• Ability to relate to the school community and community value base

Salary and Benefits:

The compensation package for this position is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Garden Valley School Division and the Educational, Service and Health Care Union (CLAC), Local No. 306 Affiliated with the Christian Labour Association of Canada for Educational Assistants. ($16.71 - $27.58 per hour).
