Job Description:

Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.

Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.

May plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and cost, and monitor and order supplies.

Inspect kitchens and food service areas.

Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.

Supervise kitchen staff and helpers

Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.

Clean kitchen and work areas.

May set up and oversee buffets

Oversee kitchen operations

Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a cook is required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate in a related industry is required.

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, bending, crouching, kneeling and standing for extended periods of time.

Personal Suitability

Excellent oral communication, initiative, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, team player, organized, accurate, judgement.

Language:

English is required.

Salary: $21.00 hourly, 40 hours per week

Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required. The worker will work from Thursday to Monday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Tuesday and Wednesday are off. Overtime may be required depending on the business needs.
