Job Duties:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables

Repair machine tools and parts

Set up and adjust production machineries/tools

Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments

Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances

Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports

Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)

Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces

Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools

Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

Read, alter, and program CNC machines programming using G code

Requirements

Education: Completion of secondary school is required

Experience: Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in machining is required.

  • CNC machines programming using G code is required.

  • Knowledge in MasterCAM programming is an asset.

Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes, Computer numerical control (CNC) machines, Conventional machines, Milling machines, Sawing machines

Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Ability to work independently, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Standing for extended periods, Attention to detail

Personal suitability: Accurate, Dependability, Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Flexibility, Initiative, Team player, Quick learner

Work Site Environment: Noisy

Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

Language: English is required

Salary: $37.00 hourly, 40 hours per week

Important Information: The regular work schedule is from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute paid coffee breaks. Flexibility on schedule and overtime may be required as some days may start earlier, and others finish later depending on the business needs. Work on weekends may be required.
