Casual Childcare Assistant

Avonlea Community Early Learning Center Inc. is a new daycare planning to open our doors in May, we will fill our building with 26 licensed spaces for children between the ages of 1-12. We will also have school aged kids within the Center for the hours of 7:30am-8:30am & 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Currently we are looking for team members with a passion for childcare. ACELC core values are safety, kindness, education, growth & community spirit. We are looking for like minded individuals that want to develop personal relationships with the children. Help develop and encourage a safe space for those big emotions and nurture the growth, both emotionally, & intellectually of the children.
Casual hours will never be greater than 65 hours per month. Casuals will fill in for staff holidays, and should be available at short notice for staff sick days. Casuals may only need to come in for 3 hour shifts to help with the morning or afternoon business with the School aged kids.

Childcare Assistant Responsibilities: ______________________________________________________________
The job duties and responsibilities of the Childcare Assistants include but are not limited to the following:
-Provide a safe, nurturing, and educationally rich environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive in.
-Supervise and engage with children throughout the day
-Ensure staff to child ratios are followed at all times
-Work with children while leading crafts and activities
-Walking children to and from Avonlea School
-Encourage team building by facilitating open communication and positive working relationships with fellow employees.
-General daily cleaning duties

Minimum Qualifications:

Canadian/permanent resident
18 years of age or older
Experience working with young children
Satisfactory Criminal Records & Vulnerable Sector Check

What we offer:

Wages: Hourly wage band negotiable based on education & experience.
No ECE training required for casual hours of less than 65 per month.
Childcare Assistant (no schooling) - $15.00 - $17.50
ECE Level I - $19.50 - $20.06
ECE Level II - $21.50 - $24.99
ECE Level III -$23.00 - $ 26.49
