Class 1A Truck Drivers

Nelson River Construction is currently hiring motivated Class 1A Truck Drivers for both our Asphalt and Concrete Division.

Depending on Division, the successful candidate must be willing to work out of town and at times in a camp environment. We offer per diems for those out of town.

The Position

The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Tandem/Triple Axel trucks and trailers; transporting and delivering materials or equipment to the job site.

Requirements

-3 years experience in the road construction industry;
-Exceptional ability to reverse a loaded trailer into the Paving machine as required;
-Experience loading, chaining, and transporting equipment on a flatbed, as required;
-Maintain a valid Class 1 Driver’s License, clean abstract, and be insurable;
-Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at minimum 50 lbs on a regular basis;
-Good attitude, sound judgment, ability to follow directions, hard work, and dependability are extremely important.

Responsibilities

-Operate the Tandem, Tri-Dump, End-Dump and Live Bottom trucks and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner;
-Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment. Ensure all vehicle documents and applicable permits are valid and present in the vehicle;
-Ensure proper loading of asphalt and aggregates and verify the type and weight of materials being hauled;
-Ensure on-time delivery of asphalt, aggregates, and other road construction materials; reducing bottlenecks in the construction process;
-Hose, shovel, or clean out the truck box to remove debris when necessary;
-Ensure the area above and around the truck is clear of overhead lines and other obstructions before raising the box to dump loads;
-Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture;
-Attend and actively contribute to safety meetings;
-Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of a variety of truck styles;
-Fill out all necessary paperwork accurately, neatly, and completely;
-Use proper two-way radio etiquette;
-Perform miscellaneous activities throughout the day, as directed.
