Residential Assistant Manager

Positions: Assistant Manager
Residence: Medium to heavy level care
Hours: 76.5 hours bi-weekly

Blue Sky Opportunities is looking for a managerial candidate, with strong organizational and leadership ability for a medium to heavy level care residential home. The successful applicant will be responsible in assisting with the daily needs of each individual, as well as effectively supporting the manager with the residents' care, operation of the home and staffing. This position is a permanent position and includes a health benefit plan as well as a pension plan.

This position requires the successful applicant to meet not only the expectations set out by Blue Sky Opportunities but also other governing bodies to include Residential Care Licensing, Department of Family Services, the Fire Commissioners Office and to work with the Community Service Worker, Public Trustee/SDM and family members.

Qualifications:
*Positive attitude and outlook
*Minimum grade 10 education with grade 12 or higher preferred
*18 years of age and older
*Clean Criminal Record, Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks
*Excellent organizational skills

*Ability to support decisions made by management team
*Deal with personnel and individual issue as they arise in a dignified and respectful manner
*Understanding and implementation of the Vulnerable Persons Act
*The ability to provide strong leadership
*Cooking and cleaning skills are key and providing a safe work environment is crucial
*Excellent administrative skills
*Computer ability in Microsoft Word and Excel
*Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
*An understanding of accounting principles to handle finances for the residents
*Ability to adapt to change and work independently as well as part of a team
*A valid class 5 driver's licence
*Access to a vehicle
*Good problem solving skills
*On call expected every other week
*Able to work shift work on a two week rotation that includes days, evenings and alternating weekend

Hours worked include 4 late afternoons/evenings shifts a week plus a weekend days Saturday and Sunday every other weekend.
