Position Title: Finance Coordinator, Accounts Payable

Position Details:
• Full-Time - 75 hours bi-weekly
• Mondays to Friday
• Day Shifts: 8:30 am until 4:30pm (flexible)
• Hourly wage between $21.30-23.97
• There will be a three-month probationary period based on accumulated FTE.

About Us
Initiatives for Just Communities (IJC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that operates four community justice programs: El'dad Ranch, Touchstone, Open Circle, and CoSA. These programs support people with intellectual disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and those who are currently, or have been previously, incarcerated. IJC is committed to restorative justice practices, which honour the community and foster a sense of belonging.

The Position
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Coordinator, Accounts Payable is responsible for the timely and accurate payments to suppliers for goods and services acquired for IJC and for providing information about payables and payments for reporting purposes. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining financial records.

What you will do
• Calculate, prepare, and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems.
• Code, total, batch, enter, verify, and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system.
• Compile budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets.
• Prepare period or cost statements or reports.
• Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists.
• Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations, and solve problems.
• Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
• Participate on the purchasing committee.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• Three years or more years of experience and of post-secondary education in a related accounting field, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education in work experience.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills are required.
• Proven self-starter, operating with a strong sense of urgency; ability to follow instructions and exercise good judgement with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated excellent organization and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure with high volumes, follow through, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills; including written and verbal communication with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Quickbooks, Expensepoint, Microsoft Office, with a focus in Excel.
• A positive attitude and approach, including the willingness and ability to learn and adapt to change.
