Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to perform the required and necessary tasks in the welding
process and fabrication of material for the mounting, installing and assembly of truck mounted systems,
including but not limited to, hydraulics, driveline and snow and ice control systems. The position of
Welder includes, but is not limited to production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building,
and fitter welding. Responsibilities will include the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied
drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer
specifications, as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures.
The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal
products. This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements
in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG welding processes.
Major Responsibilities
• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes
such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and
bending machines.
• Repair parts of metal products by welding extra layers.
• Maintain safe work practices.
• Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits.
• Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and
certifying their work.
• Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
• Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
• Workplace is to be kept neat, tidy, and organized.
• Equipment is to be maintained and calibrated per the documented schedule and at the request
of the immediate supervisor.
• Communicate with internal staff as required, recommend Process Improvement, and participate
in training.
Quality Management System
• Ensure site compliance to all company’s SOPs, labor, safety, environmental regulations, and
Quality Management.
• Compliance with all regional legislation including Occupational Health and Safety, Transport
Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Act.
• Take prompt corrective action if required.
• Will support the Shop Supervisor and be equally responsible for the quality compliance for all
the welded parts and bodies. Will also be responsible for the inspection to ensure that the
highest compliance is achieved.
Health & Safety
• Will support the Shop Supervisor and be equally responsible for safety compliance on the
shopfloor for the people within his leadership.
• Ensure and oversee all HS and JHSC rules and regulations are in force.
• Review and take appropriate action relating to health and safety recommendations and
concerns.
Qualifications – Education / Knowledge
• 2+ years welding experience
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings accurately.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse
working environment.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work well under pressure and strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Hand, Air and Measuring tools.
• Knowledge of industry standard machinery and equipment used in a truck shop environment.

The working condition of the truck shop requires repetitive tasks that are physically demanding.
These tasks require manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, bending,
drilling, hammering and heavy lifting. All safe work practices must be adhered to.
During certain periods, may experience high volumes of activities as per the responsibilities listed
above. Additional or irregular hours may be required as deemed operationally necessary.
