DESCRIPTION
École Discovery Trails, the new dual-track Kindergarten to Grade 8 school currently under construction in Morden, MB, invites applications for the position of Industrial Arts Teacher, providing instruction for students in Grades 7 and 8.
The successful candidate must hold a valid Manitoba Technical Vocational Teaching Certificate or be enrolled in a provincially recognized teacher certificate program and be able to obtain appropriate certification (Manitoba Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal Endorsement in the Carpentry Trade). Certification of Qualification in related Trades is considered an asset.
The successful candidate must possess: a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Journeyperson, with recent residential, commercial, and industrial work experience preferred. The Industrial Arts Teacher will be responsible for providing professional, high-quality education for students in a safe environment that promotes learning through exploration. They will create and implement an industrial arts curriculum within the Manitoba Curriculum guidelines and in close cooperation with the Principal. The successful candidate must have superior interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills, as s/he must possess a demonstrated ability to work in the consultative/collaborative model as an instructional leader in our school. The successful candidate must possess excellent planning and communication skills exemplified through demonstrating and modelling successful teaching techniques, exhibit differentiated instructional coaching skills and approaches, and have knowledge of and experience with various tools in the woodworking field.
A condition of employment with the Western School Division is a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and an agreement by the applicant to disclose criminal record and/or Abuse Registry record information to the Division.
