Youth Mentor

Full time term until March 31, 2025 - Starting at $19/hour
Hours will be a combination of daytime and early evenings and some Saturday's.

PCRC is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of the Youth Mentor. This position is works under the program coordinator to support program and executive program planning, work directly with youth in our community to ensure access to appropriate resources.

Conditions of Employment:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector check), Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check
• Valid Driver's license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel within Portage la Prairie and surrounding areas

• Post-secondary education in social sciences or human services desired.
• Experience in case management in the social services field with an emphasis on case management which includes assessment, service planning, evaluation, follow up and review and closure
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and establish working relationships with individuals/families, service providers and community organizations and agencies
• Excellent ability to manage conflict
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing workload demands and meet time sensitive deadlines
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
• Ability to work with a diverse population
• Excellent written communication skills, with experience writing clear, concise documents and reports for a variety of audiences
• Experience adhering to procedures and policies
• Experience in documentation, referrals and community outreach.
• Ability to work in a fast paced team environment

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Youth Mentor will establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth, advocates, and service providers/agencies under a variety of circumstances. This position requires effective case management skills incorporating sound judgement and administrative management as well as supporting groups/events taking place.
