Families' Assistant FT 37.5hrs/week

Steinbach Family Resource Centre supports growing families through pregnancy, postpartum and early childhood development. Supporting families includes providing physical and emotional support, health education and community connection. At SFRC, we believe healthy families make healthy communities.

We are seeking a reliable, organized and caring individual to make a difference through personalized support, administration, and resource management. The Families’ Assistant offers the first point of contact for our Centre and builds trusted relationships within a diverse community. The successful candidate will be compassionate, resourceful, and creative with a positive reputation and outgoing personality. They will represent SFRC’s interests and goals with enthusiasm in all relationships including partners, donors, and volunteers while serving families in our community. Hours of work are 9am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility required for evening programs, weekends and special events.

• Create an inclusive and supportive environment that addresses each individual’s immediate physical, emotional and social needs; compassionate listening, relationship building, understanding and personalized care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of interactions, resource distribution, referrals and attendance. Gather statistics, create and format reports.
• Program and fundraising administration. Experience with client management software and/or donor management software an asset.
• Manage office appliances and communications via mail, fax, email, telephone system, voicemail and message maintenance.
• Oversee SFRC volunteers. Recruitment, orientation, training, communication, scheduling & recognition.
• Fundraising special events support and administration. (Special focus on prioritizing the growth of ‘Our Village’ Community Scavenger Hunt.)
• Content creation and virtual media for the Centre: (Email newsletter, website, and social platforms including among others: Canva, Mailchimp, Office 365.)
• Food programming & resource distribution: Maintain contact lists, shopping needs, pickup and sorting of incoming donations (food handling), communication with families and partnering organizations.
• Physical requirements for program setup. (Lifting tables, chairs and other programming equipment, able to access elevated storage.
• General Centre upkeep including daily cleaning and outdoor maintenance.
• Co-ordinate and assist staff with administrative tasks as required.
• Anticipate Centre needs and pro-actively assist in all areas as needed.

• Clear criminal record & child abuse registry check, valid driver's license.
• Software skills including Microsoft Office/365, Teams, Social Media, CRM Software, etc.
• Experience or education in social services, education, healthcare, administration, or a related field.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Adaptable and able to multi-task.
