The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time General Manager position within our newly developed Michif Manor located at 800 Notre Dame Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The General Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the Michif Manor. The Michif Manor is intended to assist the under-served Red River Métis community, and the General Manager plays a great role in doing so. Michif Manor operates 24/7 therefore the incumbent can expect to work various shifts.
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Develop and recommend to leadership the overall mission, strategic direction, goals, and operating principles of Michif Manor;
• Deliver overall leadership and management of Michif Manor;
• Ensure the safety and health of guests, and the guest experience, is of upmost priority;
• Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to policies, programs and service excellence;
• Ensure that all establishment practices comply with applicable laws and licensing agreements;
• Develop, monitor, and oversee Michif Manor budgets;
• Attract fundraisers and conduct fundraising with a philanthropic mindset;
• Create ongoing promotional materials to increase awareness of the manor;
• Develop job descriptions for all positions at the manor and maintain an organizational chart.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline or a combination of suitable education and experience will be considered;
• Experience in a Management role within a non-profit organization. Within the hospitality or lodging industry or relevant position would be considered an asset;
• Experience managing in a dynamic technical environment;
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience interacting with employees, partners, volunteers, and guests;
• Excellent analytical and financial skills with experience developing and monitoring budgets;
• Familiarity with the practical and financial aspects of managing a hospitality or lodging organization would be considered an asset;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
