Community Worker Summer Student

Workdays: Monday to Friday

Hourly rate: $15.00 per hour – Funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Anticipated Start Date: July 8th, 2024

The Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre is seeking an energetic student to fill the position of Community Worker Summer Student

This is a great opportunity for students who wish to develop skills and gain experience and be ready for full-time work once they complete their education.

About Us:

The Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC) is a non-profit organization serving the Central Alberta region under the direction of a community-based Board of Directors.

We specialize in healing sexual trauma and provide a range of judgement-free, support services for individuals and their families who are affected by sexual violence. Our programs and services include counselling, play therapy, police and court support, crisis support and education.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Worker will provide assistance to individuals contacting CASASC regarding general resource inquiries, as well as to clinicians who need additional support for their clients. The position provides information, assistance and liaison to clients of CASASC and may assist clinicians in need of support for community resources and information. Eligibility:

To be eligible for the position of Community Worker – Summer Student, you must:

· be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
· have been registered as full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
· be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
· have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Qualification & Requirements:

· Current enrollment in a school and going back to school or any other relevant program.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Experience with Word Press, graphic designing, email marketing software, Adobe creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
· Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
· Clear understanding of confidentiality.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
· Excellent problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills.
· Knowledge of community resources.
· Acceptable attainment and maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check.

Responsibilities:

· Support the Education Team in all community booths as needed.
· Help and support the Fund Development in any activity as needed.
