ROLE
This is a full-time on-site role as a Research & Development and Manufacturing Efficiency Designer at Schnell Industries Inc, located in Winkler, MB for a reliable, committed, naturally inquisitive individual with a high integrity level and the ability to solve complex problems with innovative thinking. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and development, product & tool design, product & tool development, and computer-aided design. You will provide in depth support and collaborate with a number of departments and teams and as such will play a crucial role in researching, designing, and developing new products or technologies that will shape the future of our industry. This position requires a creative thinker with strong technical skills and a passion for innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design jigs for welding robot and other projects
• Create welding procedures
• Provide support for issues on the production floor. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to projects.
• Work with our internal customer support department to resolve warranty/product issues through innovative design solutions
• Support the drafting department with designing of equipment/products
• Support the welding department with creating processes for complex weldments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation or improvement of both current and new product and processes. Providing support for Press Brake, Welding Robot, CNC Roller, NC Rotary Bender and Welding Machines
• Design and support staff in the build of custom tooling solutions for Schnell Industries
• Conduct research to identify new technologies, materials or processes for product and tool development to keep the company moving into future growth opportunities. Stay current on industry trends, market demands, and competitor activities.
• Design and develop prototypes or models based on research findings.
• Test and evaluate prototypes to determine performance, reliability, and feasibility. Analyze test data and make recommendations for improvements or modifications.
• Document all research, design, and testing processes for future reference.
Would be considered an asset:
• Degree in Engineering or related field
HIRING REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven significant 3D Design & Software Experience (Minimum 5 years), Solid Works experience preferred & other engineering tools
• Metal and Welding Manufacturing experience
• CNC Equipment Experience
• Basic Electrical and Hydraulic Components Experience
• Ability to work well, support and collaborate with more than one team/department and while still conducting independent research and development and practical as well as technical problem-solving skill applications
• Commitment to a high level of Confidentiality
• High proficiency level in both written and spoken English
• Strong analytical skills with high level of attention to detail.
• High level of proficiency in Spread Sheets (Excel/Google Sheets)
• Effective communication skills
• Ability/willingness to either commute or relocate to work in-person at our office.
