Van Driver

Program: Blue Sky Opportunities Transportation Division
Position: Part time indefinite term
Hours: Monday to Friday 7:45 am to9:00 am and 2:45 pm to 4:30 pm in town

Blue Sky Opportunities is looking for a responsible driver to transport supported individuals to and from day programs to their residences in Altona. The successful applicant will be responsible to carry out duties as they relate to driving the van. All duties must be carried out to ensure safe transportation of individuals. This is an ideal part time job for someone looking to work and connect with others during the week. There is also opportunity to fill in for other drivers when they are sick or on holidays. This route is available as a term and the length of the term is unknown at this time.

Qualifications:
• Grade 12 education, other may be considered
• Clean criminal record check and child and adult abuse registry
• Valid Class 4 driver’s licence with clean abstract
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent people skills needed
• Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing schedule
• Physically able to bend, stretch, crouch, push, pull in order to secure wheelchairs in vehicle; able to physically support passengers on/off the vans when needed

Responsibilities:
• Perform pre-trip inspection when required
• Load/unload passengers
• Follow schedule in a timely fashion
• Daily cleaning and sanitizing of van after run
• Report injury of unusual behavior to Coordinator or senior staff in charge
• Other transportation duties from time to time
