Volunteer Manager

Agape House-Eastman Crisis Centre Inc. is currently hiring a flexible, self-starter to fill the role of Volunteer Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Manager will create a system to recruit, train and place an adequate number of skilled volunteers in our organization. The Volunteer Manager will have a background in management in non-profit settings and social services.

Key Responsibilities:
 Establishes volunteer placement criteria by identifying requirements in consultation with supervisors and Executive Director.
 Identifies sources of volunteers and runs advertising campaigns through appropriate sources.
 Verifies applicants’ qualifications by conducting interviews and screening candidates based on past experience, personality, suitability and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge relevant to volunteer placement.
 Design and maintains a volunteer database system.
 Updates and promotes volunteer opportunities on social media platforms.
 Conducts training sessions tailored to the needs of volunteer opportunity as required.
 Orientates volunteers to policies, procedures, rights and responsibilities within the organization.
 Ensures volunteers are instructed in the importance of confidentiality with clients, agency business/dynamics, limits of authority and extent of responsibility.
 In consultation with the Executive Director, develops and implements a recognition program for volunteer contributions.
 Maintain professional relationship with Board members, outside agencies and groups.
 Organizes workload and demonstrate effective time management.
 Participates as a responsible team member by communicating and providing support where required.

Qualifications:
 Education: Volunteer Management Certification.
 Creation: Experience developing, piloting and evaluating programs.
 Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
 Behave Ethically: Understand ethical behaviour and business practices and ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is
consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
 Build Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
 Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals and resolve problems.
 Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details.
 Proof of vaccination or willingness to undergo regular testing

Hours of Work and details of the position:

The position will begin on July 30th, 2024. The hours of this part-time role are flexible but do require the ability to adjust hours as needed.

This position is a 0.2 FTE position (16 hours every bi-weekly pay period – part-time).
