The Accounts Payable Clerk - General (APCG) is a temporary administration position. The APCG provides competent accounting and clerical tasks related to the maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions and other accounting duties as required. The APCG also provides competent, courteous and professional front desk reception duties for the Administration Office. The APCG reports directly to the Finance Manager.
Community College Diploma or High School with three (3) years direct experience; however a combination of related education, experience and skills may be considered;
Knowledge of Customary Care and the philosophy of service delivery, First Nation communities, family structure, and local customs and traditions;
Knowledge of the administrative structure and operations of AAFS including policies, procedures, guidelines, and office methods;
Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Funding Framework and auditing standards;
Ability to complete all accounts payable functions including coding, batching, data input and maintenance, purchase order processing, cheque preparation and printing, and all related filing;
Ability to ensure purchase orders and cheque requisitions are duly approved and adhere to program budgets and finance policies and procedures;
Ability to assist with quarterly reporting and to reconcile vendor accounts for fiscal year-end audits;
Ability to provide back-up coverage and support services to the other accounts payable clerks;
Ability to greet all visitors and guests attending the Administration Office front desk reception courteously and professionally;
Ability to answer incoming telephone calls, provide callers with general information, redirect calls to appropriate staff and take detailed messages as required;
Ability to receive, open, date stamp, sort and distribute daily incoming mail, deliveries, facsimile transmissions and ensures all confidential items remain unopened;
Ability to order office supplies, maintain an adequate inventory for the Admin office, and coordinate delivery and pick up by the other AAFS offices;
Ability to run errands on short notice;
Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with staff, management, board members, vendors and other community service providers;
Extensive experience working with a computerized client data base, Microsoft Word and Excel;
Excellent communication, organizational, time management, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills;
Must be committed to ensure highest level of confidentiality at all times;
Must be willing and able to flex daily work hours as determined by the Finance Manager;
Must possess a valid Ontario G Drivers License and be willing to travel;
Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Drivers Abstract; and
Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin is preferred and a definite asset.
The work will be normally performed in a typical interior and office environment located in the offices of AAFS. The position will require the incumbent to sit for long periods of time at a desk, walk, stand, bend, stoop, crouch and stretch. Use of arms, hands or fingers in typing, handing and carrying objects and repetitive movements. The noise level environment is usually quiet to moderate. Some travel to semi-remote First Nation communities on rough and winding class “C” roadways and in various weather conditions.
Salary Range: $35,786 - $42,098 per annum
