General Mechanic PMP Powerline Construction Ltd.
The General Mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles and also equipment such as crew 1 tons, semis, digger/bucket trucks, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, etc. The candidate must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs and complete routine maintenance.

-Provide vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs
-Experience working with commercial equipment, machinery and vehicles
-Installation of new and added-on equipment
-Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to municipal equipment in order to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable and safe to operate
-Locate and order parts needed for repairs
-Accurate completion of work orders
-Test repaired equipment for proper performance
-Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
-Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation -Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
-Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision
-Other mechanical repair work as required
-Very comfortable using a cutting torch and welding
-5+ years experience as a Mechanic
-Possess a valid drivers license
-Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel automotive repairs
-Ability to work independently in a busy environment
-Experience with routine maintenance operations
-Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
-Able to work well under pressure
-Strong attention to detail
-24/7 availability may be required
-Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
-Travel to off-site locations may be required
-Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
-Overtime as required
-Hazards associated with the trade
-Work both indoors and outdoors
-May be exposed to construction sites
