Youth Liaison Worker
$27.29 to $29.52 per hour

It’s an exciting time within Community Support Services as we continue to grow and evolve to serve our community better.

This permanent casual position will work directly with youth, service providers, and the Town of High River to address the social well-being of youth and to coordinate and collaborate on preventative programming and supports. The Youth Liaison Worker will be responsible for making appropriate referrals and for planning and/or implementing youth programs and services. The Youth Liaison Worker, through youth engagement and assessment, will be responsible for working on the development of a Youth Strategy for the Town of High River. The overall goal is to help youth feel connected to their community; involve youth as participants and volunteers and promote youth involvement in community life.

Reporting to the Manager of Family and Community Support Services, the Youth Liaison Worker will be required to engage, empower, and encourage youth through some of the following duties:
• Work with youth and the community to identify key issues affecting youth and develop innovative solutions to address issues and build on strengths
• Liaise with other Town business units and service providers; maintain a network of professional relationships
• Meet with individual youth to discuss issues they are dealing with and refer them to appropriate resources when necessary; empower youth to make positive decisions and provide them with the information they need to do so.
• Work with the youth and the Parks and Recreation department to provide input on creative and valuable recreation activities and events

The successful candidate must possess a grade 12 education or equivalent and have completed a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education (for example, a diploma or degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Child Studies) as well as a minimum of 2 years work experience with youth. Experience with community development projects is an asset. Candidates must be highly motivated, reliable, have the ability to work independently and to engage and establish healthy relationships with youth. Applicants must have a class 5 driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and be able to obtain a clear criminal and vulnerable sectors record checks.
