Performance Expectations
Assist in the execution of compilation, bookkeeping and tax engagements
Set up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and other administrative planning and completion aspects of accounting work
Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS) system uploads
Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with manager or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errors
Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accurately
Provide management reports to clients as requested
Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, ROE’s, EHT and WSIB remittances and reconciliations
Prepare HST Returns
Prepare T4s and T5s
Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
Develop and maintain relationships with client management
Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Possess one (1) to four (4) years of full quickbooks bookkeeping experience
Completion of certificate or diploma in accounting would be considered an asset
Ability to administer and understand full quickbooks accounting in a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of trial balances, general ledger (GL) databases, financial statement close processes and accounting matters
Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on manual and computerized systems
Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting software such as Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online and Simply Accounting
Experience in preparing T4’s and T5’s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, and TaxPrep is preferred
Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
