Started in 1987 by a young entrepreneur with a single truck and trailer, Steve’s Livestock Transport has since grown to become one of the largest commercial livestock carriers in North America – and a leader in the transportation industry. Each week, our fleet of 130 power units is out on the road, transporting cattle and pigs throughout Canada and the United States.
The Driver Training and Development Specialist is responsible to provide leadership and training development for company drivers, owner operators and their drivers in the areas of safe driving and animal care with a focus on developing Professional Class 1 Drivers.
Conduct annual training and development needs assessment and to develop and implement driver training programs
Coordinate and schedule driver training and mentor programs and maintain training records
Provide leadership to Steve’s Livestock Transport trainers, coaches and mentors
Conduct training and follow-up on completed training
Provide leadership for Animal Welfare programs.
Ensure compliance with regulations
Develop and conduct training programs for new employees and refresher training for existing employees
Conduct investigations into improper care and handling of animals, including making recommendations, providing remedial training and communicating with customers
The ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to assess training needs and develop a training plan accordingly
Previous training or facilitating experience is an asset
A Class 1 license and/or livestock experience is an asset
Post-secondary education in Adult Learning (or the willingness to pursue)
