About the Role
With a new store opening right around the corner, we are looking for an experienced Store Manager with a passion for the cannabis industry and demonstrated leadership capabilities. Our Store Manager will act as a role model and leader for the store team; not only will they have a passion for developing people, but they’ll also be experts in generating sales and believe in the business as if it were their own.
Our Store Manager will become a master in everything cannabis and will be eager to share their new knowledge with our awesome customers and employees. The Store Manager will help champion our brand and culture while adhering to, and educating staff on, compliance to AGLC standards and our internal policies and procedures. We’re looking for a dedicated go-getter who thrives in a team atmosphere, has an understanding of business operations, and is excited to take on a store leadership role in the growing cannabis industry!
Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
People Management Skills
Recruit, hire, onboard, train and develop enthusiastic Customer Experience Representatives who are passionate about supporting Alcanna’s mission and vision.
Act as a role model who coaches, mentors and inspires their team; foster a progressive culture and facilitate activities that will build and enhance teamwork and retention.
Establish a strong sales and customer service culture with an accountability for operating standards and a drive to increase financial performance.
Complete annual performance appraisals for all Customer Experience Representatives.
Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge; staying up to date with industry legislation, trends and new products.
Promote our culture and brand by participating in merchandising and promotional activities.
Educate customers and staff about cannabis products, strains and consumption methods.
Day to Day Operations
Work in partnership with senior leadership to meet business needs.
Lead the store team to complete purchasing, receiving and cycle count procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage staff schedules and effectively plan shifts.
Complete customer transactions on the POS system and adhere to all cash and Loss Prevention procedures.
Ensure store’s maintenance, up-keep and cleanliness is a priority.
Monitor inventory and re-stock product regularly.
Review and submit orders as required.
Ensure compliance with OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) policies and procedures.
Operate the store within the guidelines of AGLC cannabis rules and regulations.
Support and promote Alcanna’s and AGLC’s social responsibility programs.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience in a people management role (in a retail setting preferred).
Cannabis, liquor, hospitality and/or healthcare experience is preferred.
Experience in Health and Safety, Education and facilitating training would be considered a strong asset.
High School Diploma/Post-Secondary education (preferred, not required).
First Aid Certification considered an asset.
Must pass a Criminal Record Check.
Must have a valid SellSafe certificate and QCW (Qualified Cannabis Worker) certificate from AGLC.
Strong working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta.
Personal Characteristics and Requirements
Demonstrated leadership ability with a focus on training and development of the Customer Experience Representatives.
Ability to establish a positive, productive, and comfortable rapport with store employees and customers.
Uphold ethics, confidentiality, and demonstrate a high level of discretion at all times.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and a professional demeanor.
Team player who is passionate about supporting the overall success of the business.
Passionate about creating a positive, memorable, and tailored experience for every customer, and ability to build customer loyalty and repeat business.
Highly responsible and reliable.
Ability to think on your feet, quickly adapt to changing priorities and creatively problem solve.
Open minded and constantly identifying ways to improve.
Must be able to work a flexible retail schedule including evenings and weekends.
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, on occasion the Store Manager may be required to attend to matters at the store on short notice.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
