Manager of Accounting Services

The Town of High River is seeking a Manager of Accounting Services to provide oversight and direction to the Financial Services team. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing proactive leadership, motivating those around you to perform to their potential and coordinating the financial activities of the Financial Services team. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will lead crucial Town activities, such as assisting in the development of departmental goals, implementation of objectives and policies, administration of the financial management system, and tracking and recording of the all fixed assets. In addition, this position oversees month end and year end processing, monthly general ledger reconciliations and the facilitation of statutory year end external audit.

For this position, you possess post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting or commerce, preferably you possess or are working towards an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA), and you have three to five years of progressive experience in the public or private sector. Municipal government experience and an understanding of public sector accounting and reporting guidelines is an asset. Additionally you have comprehensive knowledge of accounting information systems, the ability to perform at a managerial level, you possess excellent attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. You also display strong communication and public relations skills and have demonstrated your ability to show initiative and work independently.
